Political environment weighs on outlook While the US economy is weakening, the Eurozone economy is beginning to recover, primarily thanks to the service sector. On the basis of an improvement in the real income situation and falling inflation rates, consumption should continue to boost growth. The gradual turnaround in interest rates in the major currency areas should have a positive effect on investment activity. In the first half of the year, the persistently high inflation level of 4.1% y/y for service providers was a disappointment. However, we expect price pressure in services to gradually ease. The US economy weakened significantly in the first quarter. The question is whether this was the start of a downturn or a temporary weakness. We do expect a sustained slowdown in the US economy, but do not expect a recession. |
