GDP growth slows down, high inflation persists In 2021, the Austrian economy recorded a strong upswing, mainly driven by domestic demand. In 1H22, the upswing accelerated, but slowed down in 3Q22. For the coming months, we expect a general cooling of economic output. Since the beginning of 2022, the steep rise in inflation has been driven not only by energy, but also by food and core inflation. We expect inflation to remain high in the coming months, even if it should decline somewhat from the current level. |
