Corporate sentiment remains cautious despite interest rate cuts The capital markets reacted positively to the interest rate cuts by the ECB and the US Fed. In the corporate bond market, risk premiums narrowed. The broader rating categories reached levels slightly below those at the beginning of the year. Since the middle of the year, however, a slight nervousness has been noticeable, which is reflected in wider fluctuation margins for risk premiums. The main reason for this is likely to be the persistently weak economic outlook. In the third quarter, risk appetite decreased and the IG segment has outperformed to date. Weak sentiment indicators in Europe (PMI and ifo index) point to downside risks to the economy.
