"Magnificent Seven" shape the US stock market

Rating Changes: Walmart, BNP Paribas.

The upswing in US equities is being driven primarily by the strong sales and earnings performance of the "Magnificent Seven" stocks. These are currently the shares of NVIDIA, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon.com, Alphabet, Meta Platforms and Broadcom. These seven stocks already represent almost a third of the total market capitalization of the S&P 500. The market capitalization of these companies exceeds that of the entire European stock market.

The net profits of the "Magnificent Seven" companies are growing very strongly. The prospect of further increases is realistic. As a result, the performance of this group of stocks is above average. The increase since the beginning of the year is +37%. The S&P 500 has gained +13% in this period. Without the "Magnificent Seven" stocks, the S&P 500 would only be up +5% this year.

Broadcom: Very strong growth in infrastructure software.

Walmart: High growth in online revenues, sales and profit forecasts raised slightly, operating margin strong.
