Germany adopts electricity price package The German government has agreed on additional relief for the manufacturing industry and companies with particularly electricity-intensive production. In particular, the electricity tax is to be drastically reduced. The reduction is to apply until 2028. In view of the continuing stagnation of Germany's economy, these measures are to be welcomed. They will improve the competitiveness of energy-intensive industry, which has suffered particularly badly from high energy prices over the last two years. However, Germany's industry continues to face a weak global market environment. Germany's latest export data has continued its downward trend, with exports to the US now also falling sharply. |
