ECB to take first step Next week, the ECB Governing Council is very likely to cut key interest rates by 25 basis points (bp). Recent statements by a large number of members of the committee clearly point to this. The latest inflation data was mixed. Overall, however, it should be enough for a first interest rate cut. Since there is relatively little doubt about the interest rate decision next week, the markets will turn their attention to the indications of the further course of action. The ECB economists' new forecasts will be important here. |
