Erste Asset Management GmbH, pobočka Česká republika (EAM) has decided to suspend the issue and redemption of share certificates in the period from 2 January 2020 from 0:00 to 3 January 2020 to 24:00, i.e. for two business days. EAM is proceeding with this suspension further to the proposal of the Czech Capital Market Association concerning the technical interval during which member companies can suspend the fixing of current values of share certificates and making them public, and suspend the issue and redemption of share certificates. A technical interval takes place each year in order to fulfil due diligence in fund asset management and to maintain the equal rights of all shareholders at a time of restricted activities associated with the transition to the New Year. This also concerns essential operations associated with the end of the accounting period and setup of the system for the new calendar period. This particularly involves the following specific activities:
 
• check and additions made to the accounting of funds so all the source documents for closing the accounting year are complete
• processing the annual financial statements including the calculation of the net income, subsequent detailed check of the depository where there are usually time shifts due to the more complex processing
• closure of books, technical fixing of the portfolio of funds due to the correct year-on-year accrued expenses and deferred revenues
• initial balances for evaluation in the new year in the valuation and accounting system being a time-consuming process which makes it impossible to perform any operations associated with the new accounting period and
• modifications and settings of control systems for calculating NAV funds for the new calendar year.
 
Suspension does not apply to shares certificates whose issue or redemption was requested by the clients before the moment of suspension.
 
Once the issue and redemption of share certificates is restored, EAM will, without undue delay and as requested by clients, issue and redeem all share certificates for which no consideration was paid for redemption or for the issue of share certificates for an amount which equals to their current value fixed on the day that the request was made.
