US Fed continues to wait and see As expected, the Fed's rate-setting committee, the FOMC, left key interest rates unchanged. The new survey of meeting participants contained only minor changes. GDP growth for the fourth quarter of 2024 is now seen at a median of 2.1%, which is noticeably higher than the 1.4% in the December survey. The median for interest rate cuts in 2024 remained at a total of 75 basis points (bp). The result was close and could easily have fallen to 50bp. The unchanged value was welcomed by the markets. |
