Energy conflict drives markets

European supply security in focus: A possibly intentionally induced leak in the Nord Stream pipelines could lead to further political tensions. Following several sanctions packages, the EU has now announced the "strongest possible reaction" against Russia.

Downside risks predominate: Leading economic indicators weakened again. Inflation in the Eurozone is expected to climb to 9.7% in September. Added to this are new geopolitical risks, such as the partial mobilization in Russia, the likely annexation of occupied parts in Ukraine, or the shift to the right after the parliamentary elections in Italy.
