ECB creates clarity for time being As was widely expected, the Governing Council today decided to raise key interest rates by 50 basis points (bp). Likely due to the different indications of members of the Governing Council during the past weeks and the confusion in the market, today came clear statements as to how to proceed in March. The ECB Governing Council was able to agree to communicate to the markets with a high probability for March a rate hike by another 50bp. At the same time, the further course of action will then be evaluated. |
