Credit demand continues to decline Banks in the euro zone once again sharply tightened lending standards in the final quarter of 2022, especially for loans to enterprises. There was also a tightening in loans for house purchase and consumer loans. Demand declined significantly in all three credit segments. For the current quarter, banks expect a further decline in demand for loans. The tightening of lending guidelines and, above all, the drop in demand for loans contrast with the very strong issuance activity on the bond market. |
