Energy prices remain strongest market factor While the EU is discussing an oil embargo against Russia, the energy prices remain the biggest uncertainty factor for the economy and the bond markets. Meanwhile, the high energy prices suggest strong earnings for utilities. Much like in many other EU countries, the Austrian government is planning a package in order to support consumers, which will allegedly include the skimming of profits. Due to the clouds covering the economic outlook, corporate bond spreads were still widening, albeit at lower velocity. |
