Inflation declines, but only slowly

The first flash estimate of September inflation for the Eurozone will be released on Friday. The Bloomberg consensus expects a decline to 4.5%, down from 5.2% in August.

A longer increase in interest rates is likely to lead to a decline in investment in the corporate sector. This will curb innovation and economic growth. In the high-yield sector in particular, a gradual increase in refinancing requirements at rising costs could weigh on the interest coverage ratio and lead to moderately rising default rates.

Special topics of the week:

- Austria Outlook: Economy stagnates, inflation remains high
- Issuer in focus: The Federal State of Lower Austria
