ECB and US Fed decide on interest rates Next week, the ECB's Governing Council will meet and will most likely decide on the next interest rate hike of 50 basis points. What will be more exciting is what outlook the ECB will give for the further course of action. Further, flash estimates for inflation and GDP in the Eurozone will be published. Due to the declining momentum of energy prices, we expect inflation to decline slightly further in January. For GDP, we expect stagnation or a slight decline in the fourth quarter of 2022. Interest rates should also rise further in the US. Compared with December, we expect a smaller hike of 25 basis points this time. There should not be much change in the outlook that the FOMC and Fed Chairman Powell will give to the markets. |
