AT: WIFO and IHS expect recession in 2024 The Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) revised their GDP forecasts for the years 2024 and 2025 as part of their autumn forecast today. Both institutes pointed to the strong consumer and investment restraint. Exports are also weakening considerably, due to the below-average economic development in major sales markets such as Germany. The two research institutes expect growth rates of -0.6% and +1.0% (WIFO) and -0.6% and +0.8% (IHS) in the years 2024 and 2025, respectively. |
