Austria´s gas supply in transition |
Austria´s gas supply in transition Russian gas and EU climate targets: two challenges for Austria's energy supply. Natural gas: an indispensable energy source for a whole range of energy-intensive key industries and over 1.1 million households. Russian gas supplies threaten to be cut off as of January 1, 2025. Infrastructure capacities, gas storage facilities and alternative sources (OMV): no gas shortage expected. This should also have a positive effect on Austria's sovereign spread to Germany. Outlook: Strong expansion of global LNG capacities with a growing role for natural gas as a bridging technology. |
